I’ve been reading the book, “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan. I encourage you to pick it up and read it.
One point that God has been speaking to me about is how fragile life can be. I think many times that I can control life. What I realize is that God has given me life and it can be taken away from me any moment. Me and Cassidy (my beautiful, wonderful wife) were talking about this at dinner last night. It was tough to discuss the possibility of one of us dying before the other person. As we talked, it became more apparent that we do not have control of our own lives and making God’s name glorified is the purpose of our lives and marriage. How often do we make all of our decisions about us?
James 4:13-14 says, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
In chapter two of Crazy Love, these statements stood out to me,
“In about fifty years (give or take a couple of decades), no one will remember you. Everyone you know will be dead. Certainly no one will care what job you had, what car you drove, what school you attended, or what clothes you wore.” Later in the chapter it says, “Friends, we need to stop living selfish lives, forgetful of our God. Our lives here are short, often unexpectedly so…to help us remember that in the movie of life, nothing matters except our King and God.”
Life is short. Make it count for eternity.
Hey!
Well…I have a few stitches in my finger from my keys trip…I will tell you more tonight at Elevate about it all!
Remember we start at 6:30! Be there ready to have a great time!
Reach out and bring your friends!
My brother Jordan had surgery today on his ankle. He has to stay in the hospital a few days because doctors are not sure if any of it spread into his foot. There is a possibility that it is cancerous. They are sending the results to a lab at Harvard seeing that is a rare case.
Jordan is a student at North Greenville University and plays basketball…Please pray for him and that the doctors would find nothing. This has been tough on my family. They all appreciate your prayers. I know God is in control and cares for His children…there are just times that it is so hard.
Thank you. God bless
I’m a big fan of thursdays…it is just a cool day. Not literally because it is really hot outside. I was driving back this morning from visiting the hospital (not me, someone else) and was looking out over the St. Johns River…God is so amazing. I just drove and watched the water and land come together. What an awesome God we serve!
I’m so “busy” (in my mind) that I miss the beauty of God’s creation many times. I am so thankful that we can enjoy beautiful Florida weather every day. What a blessing!
Psalm is one of my favorite books of the Bible to read, especially in the morning.
Psalm 148:3-6 says,
“Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him stars of light! Praise Him highest heavens, and the waters that are above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord, For He commanded and they were created. He has also established them forever and ever; He has made a decree which will not pass away.”
