I have taken a break from my website for a little while but I wanted to give you an update to life!
We spent a few days in Belleview, Florida visiting my wife’s side of the family – We had the funeral to commemorate Cassidy’s grandmother life and it was special time with family. She left a powerful legacy of Christ-likeness.
We have spent the last week up in Greenville, SC with my side of the family. Spending quality time with each other has been the priority and we have stuck to it!
It is never easy during this time, we all miss my brother Jordan.
It has been good to see my Dad continue to serve God here as Pastor. He continues to show me an example of being faithful in life and ministry.
God has blessed me with a great family and each time we are together it shows me that I have a lot to be thankful for in my life.
My brothers Jeff and Justin were a blast to spend time with – Jeff is looking into PH.D work and Justin continues to do well in college and pursue film-making!
Justin is beginning to shoot a new short film called, “Foxhole” this weekend – It will be depicting a great storyline based upon John 15:13. They are using real WWII guns, clothes, etc so it will be sweet! Check out this published article on Justin’s work.
We are headed to Nashville in the morning for Cassidy to spend the next few days finishing up her new album recording!
Lastly, God has been working in my life and teaching me to simply talk less and listen more. Enough said!
I will be writing this week some of my goals for 2010 personally and in ministry. Stay tuned!
I really enjoy movies. They tell a story, draw you in and make you feel part of the movie. Media is one of the largest culture shapers today. It can lead to shaping someone’s beliefs, convictions and even lifestyle. For example, there were many reports of car races the night the “Fast and Furious” movie came out. Back in the day, after watching “The Mighty Ducks” me and my brothers were begging our parents to go pick up some roller blades and hockey sticks!
My younger brother, Justin has a passion to use media to reach people with Jesus. I just wanted to highlight his work on my blog for a couple reasons. First, he is my awesome brother and second, he does a great job in writing, filming, and editing videos. Growing up, we always wanted to video our boxing matches, bike racing, etc. Justin has taken it to another level and I look forward to God using him in a mighty way. Ultimately, that should be our goal as Christ-followers – to lead people to Jesus.
I had the chance to spend time with my family in Greenville this last weekend. I’m reminded of how special family is to our lives. I’m thankful for a family that sticks close to each other through the good and bad times.
I’m thankful for God giving me and Mom and Dad that seek after God with passion. My Dad has served God for over 33 years in ministry and continues to serve and witness daily for Christ. I’m thankful for my Mom, she totally rocks. She is a continual encouragement to people, young and old.
My older brother Jeff has been a huge example for me to follow. I have had the most fun in my life when we served together on staff in a small town in southwest Georgia (Iron City). We saw God work in a mighty way, with over 40 people baptized per year in a town of a little over 300 people. Jeff has an awesome future as a leader for this generation.
My brother Jordan who is with Jesus is a daily example and reminder of this verse, “But to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21. I miss him everyday but know he is looking from Heaven and cheering for us to run the race of life with endurance.
My brother Justin is creative, passionate and has a heart for ministry. He is the youngest and had to put up with a lot growing up! Now that he is a senior in high school he is growing into a man of God. Not only am I proud of his walk with God but his fun-loving attitude. Check out his awesome videos!
Last but not least, my wife is AMAZING. I definitely “out-punted my coverage!” She is my best friend and I love serving Jesus with her everyday (she is a babe too!). Check out her website and be encouraged by her music!
To sum it all up, “The greatest things in life are not things.”
