Students are back in school this week and it seems to only get busier. Looking forward to a new school year. Here are some highlights of the past week!
- Worship yesterday was awesome! Great worship and message. I’m pumped to see what God has in store for the future “Watermark Church.”
- I was able to baptize three good friends – excited about God has in store for their lives!
- My wife, Cassidy has a new job at Eagle Eye outfitters. It’s a great Christian business.
- I’m a little worn out at the moment – full-time ministry plus seminary at night is wearing on me.
- I plan on being done with seminary this December. I pray that will be it for me.
- My wife, Cassidy fixed up my blog today for me! She is awesome at tech stuff.
- Excited about week 2 of our “Battle Within” series dealing with temptation. Praying students are set free from bondage to serve Jesus and love people.
- One of the favorite parts of my day are hanging out with my wife at home with Heidi (our golden retriever).
- We are beginning our small groups tonight! We are starting a new one due to the growth that has happened.
What a great week! God has been doing some awesome things in the lives of people.
- I videoed three college/graduate age friends for baptism videos. My church shoots a video prior to each person’s baptism where they share their story of how they came to know Christ! It is awesome to see.
- Our Family Lake trip was a lot of fun! It was a great day to kick back and relax with the students and their families.
- Big changes in store for the church – I will unveil the changes this next week!
- I really enjoyed the CORE student leadership team meeting on Sunday afternoon. It blesses my life to see students step up and lead. Our “Back to School” Lock in will be student led (student sharing gospel, leading worship, planned activities).
- We are adding new small groups this fall!
- I’m excited about the leaders that have just committed to becoming small group leaders and co-leaders.
- I am halfway through my 8 week classes at seminary. My prayer is that I’ll finish this Fall (and still not go crazy from all the work)
- Praying for Tim and Emily Flowers – they are at the hospital waiting for Julia to be born
- We are revamping the student area – if you have any ideas or resources for a coffee shop look, please let me know!?
It is over halfway through July!
- Praying that God provides for Cassidy to go back to college to finish her degree. She is planning to finish with a Contemporary Worship Degree at BCF (Baptist College of Florida). We are excited that she will finish quickly.
- Even though seminary is wearing me out, I’m planning to be finished this Fall (unless I decide to keep going…hmmm).
- I’ve been challenged to do a better job of strategic planning. Praying that I’ll be in sync with His plans before I make plans.
- Looking forward to Wednesday night, we have a special praise dance team coming and a great night of worship!
- I’m thinking about beginning a podcast of the Wednesday night service.
- Big changes in store for our church this Fall! I’m excited.
- We saw the movie, “Inception.” It was an interesting (and crazy) movie. I still do not understand a majority of the movie.
- A few blog posts I plan to write in the next week or two are, “Reflections on 5 years of Student Ministry” and “Thoughts on Planning in Ministry” and “Family Focused Student Ministry.”
It has been a while since my last “Monday Minute” posting! I have been real focused on life lately and not as much on my blog.
- I’m feeling the overload bearing down on me from taking two seminary classes at at time. I’m taking two classes every 8 weeks, so that means at least 2-3 papers a week. I’m learning a lot but I’m pumped to graduate with a MAR in Christian Leadership (Liberty Theological Seminary) at the end of the summer. I might keep going…praying about it. Any advice here?
- Cassidy’s new CD “New Day” is out and people are enjoying it! Her CD Release party this past Friday was awesome! Praying that God takes her music and uses it for His glory!
- I led a “new believer’s” group with students yesterday during small group time. It was exciting to disciple over 10 new believers and encourage them to walk with Jesus and grow in Him.
- Me and Cassidy are heading to Daytona Beach, FL this weekend (Thursday-Saturday) for a quick trip to celebrate her birthday and see her mom and sister. I hope to surf (hope some waves show up), REST, hang out and spend quality time with my wonderful wife.
- Excited to see my Mom this weekend, she is leading a women’s retreat in Florida, so we’ll get to hang out with her on Mother’s Day!
- Please pray for me – I’m having an EGD procedure done next Tuesday. Praying that they find why I am having trouble with eating/swallowing/tightness in my throat. It has been going on for about a year now and I’m praying that it will be relieved.
Life has been busy lately with moving into our home and ministry! Here are a few quick updates to life:
- Moved into our new home and have really enjoyed having our own place. Cassidy is doing a great job of decorating!
- Leaving at 4:45am in the morning to take a group of students and parents deep sea fishing in Destin, Florida! The goal is to build relationships and catch some great fish!
- Cassidy is enjoying being a substitute teacher!
- Cassidy’s new CD “New Day” is coming out in April! We are really excited about it and the potential it has to bring glory to Christ! If you want to pre-order one, click HERE.
- It has been awesome to see students come to know Christ in the past few months. Praying for God to continue to move in hearts and see more salvation and growth in their lives!
- I’m blessed to have many people in my life that encourage me often.
- Thankful for a loving church family and staff to work with each week.
- I’m trying to get back on a workout routine and am planning on drinking protein shakes each day to gain back some weight (and muscle) hopefully.
- March Madness has been crazy! My brackets are not doing so well, but I’m enjoying watching some great basketball.
- I’m beginning a new series called “Shift” – Focusing on the cross and the days leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion. Praying that students shift their focus to the real meaning of the cross and resurrection!
- I’m beginning my next two seminary classes this week. I’m learning a lot and am being challenged to manage time wisely.
- Thankful for God’s grace – I’m praying that I would decrease and that He would increase in my life and relationships.
