We unveiled our new name as a student ministry last night! The students were excited about the meaning and direction of “Refuge!”

Here is a snapshot of our vision!

On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.” Psalm 62:7

Refuge means…a safe place, act of turning to for assistance or security, a shelter from danger or hardship

The Refuge mission is to…Lead students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ

Our Strategy:

1. Believe – Students surrendering their lives to Jesus alone for salvation (Love God)

Environment of…

- Gospel – Students learning how to live and share the gospel
- Love – Motivated by God’s love to SHOW love to everyone

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.”

2. Belong – Students finding community and encouragement through Christ-like relationships. (Love Each Other)

Environment of…

- Acceptance – Every student is be accepted
- Hope – Relationships built on hope

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

“I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”  Psalm 91:2

3. Become – Students becoming like Christ through serving (Serve the World)

Environment of…

- Leaders – Students leading students to find refuge in God
- Obedience – Students obeying God’s authority

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Three questions to continually ask:

1. Have you SURRENDERED your life to Christ?
2. Are you building Christ-like RELATIONSHIPS with others?
3. What are you doing to become like Christ through serving?

Summer is upon us! I’m planning on getting back to a routine of posting more thoughts on life and ministry. For all of my 2 or maybe 3 readers, I will more coming!

  • Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time planning and praying about message series, events, small group growth, leader recruitment and more!
  • Personally, I’ve been feeling a lot better since my two procedures a few weeks ago. God has blessed me with family and friends that REALLY pray! My blood count and iron level is coming up. Praise the Lord!
  • I’m heading to wedding #3 of the summer this weekend. I’m heading to one of my best friends, Chris Miller’s wedding in Sacramento, CA. I’m super excited for him! He has been a faithful friend to me and I appreciate him. I’ve never been to California, so I look forward to checking out the “left coast.”
  • I’m heading to Puerto Rico on June 5th with 30 students/parents to go and build homes and share Christ with World Changers! Pray for the group and that God uses us in a mighty way to share the love and gospel of Christ.
  • Thankful for an awesome wife! She wrote a new worship song yesterday that was great! Praying that God will use her in a mighty way and provide opportunities to sing and write for His glory.
  • Staying fixed upon loving Jesus and others is my desire over the summer. I pray that many relationships are strengthened this summer!

Monday Minute

It has been a while since my last “Monday Minute” posting! I have been real focused on life lately and not as much on my blog.

  • I’m feeling the overload bearing down on me from taking two seminary classes at at time. I’m taking two classes every 8 weeks, so that means at least 2-3 papers a week. I’m learning a lot but I’m pumped to graduate with a MAR in Christian Leadership (Liberty Theological Seminary) at the end of the summer. I might keep going…praying about it. Any advice here?
  • Cassidy’s new CD “New Day” is out and people are enjoying it! Her CD Release party this past Friday was awesome! Praying that God takes her music and uses it for His glory!
  • I led a “new believer’s” group with students yesterday during small group time. It was exciting to disciple over 10 new believers and encourage them to walk with Jesus and grow in Him.
  • Me and Cassidy are heading to Daytona Beach, FL this weekend (Thursday-Saturday) for a quick trip to celebrate her birthday and see her mom and sister. I hope to surf (hope some waves show up), REST, hang out and spend quality time with my wonderful wife.
  • Excited to see my Mom this weekend, she is leading a women’s retreat in Florida, so we’ll get to hang out with her on Mother’s Day!
  • Please pray for me – I’m having an EGD procedure done next Tuesday. Praying that they find why I am having trouble with eating/swallowing/tightness in my throat. It has been going on for about a year now and I’m praying that it will be relieved.

I have been super busy with preparing for this coming beach retreat in Panama City Beach! We are pumped about having a great weekend focused upon being “totally consumed” with a lifestyle of worship. I’m praying for God to move in the hearts of students and to change lives. We are excited to have Tim and Em Flowers leading worship and my brother Jeff Robinson as the speaker! Justin (my younger brother) is leading “Late Night” and I know it is going to be “off the chain” with great videos, skits and games.

Here is the logo for the weekend!

  • I have begun two more seminary classes. I’m almost finished with my Master’s in Christian Leadership. Praying that I can stay the course and not become lazy.
  • We are enjoying the new house and I’m so grateful for a great wife to share it with!
  • I’ve enjoyed the last season of LOST – It is fun actually learning about the craziness of the Island! I’m still “lost” and am trying to figure it all out.
  • The pollen has fallen here in Alabama and I’m not used to it. Spent a few days this past week sick. I’m trying to get on a workout program and stay focused on a routine. I hear P90x is the way.
  • The final four was amazing as usual. Butler was such an inspiration to small schools making it! It was like watching “Hoosiers” in real life.
  • Now I’m headed to finish two papers tonight so I can spend the weekend focused on loving and ministering to students! Please pray for us.

Room Raiders!

We are doing a fun emphasis in the student ministry. I’ll be going along with small group leaders to students homes (when they are not home) and video their room! Every Wednesday night we’ll highlight a room and ask the question, “whose room is it anyway?!”

Here is the intro video me and Kevin made this week! Let us know what you think?
